The Secret in the Struggle
It doesn’t get any easier. You just get stronger. And the struggle never ends. Some days will be better than others. There is always a time to reap and a time to sow. This is the ebb and flow of life. You will have periods of extreme joy and pride followed by feelings of utter dissatisfaction and dismay. These periods are here to help you grow.
There will always be something new to work on. Your life is a journey of personal growth not a superficial destination. But you will realize, over time, with experience and with an honest look at yourself, the true beauty of it. True satisfaction in life is not in obtainment of the goal, but in the work and passion we put into our God-given craft every day. If you are not happy on your way to your goal, and are doing it for the wrong motivations, no prize, trophy, status, nor amount of money will be enough to satisfy you for long or at a deeper level.
To be fully happy in our lives we must continually grow and become more and more ourselves; to live out our true potential, which is unique to ourselves and that only we can discover. No one person in this world can tell you what you are meant to do. When you know, you will know. Each day you will be peeling back a layer of your shell that is preventing you from shining brightly to the world the beauty that is the True You, the only version of you that will truly affect the world and make this world a better place for all. The struggles on this journey should be embraced. They tell us we are alive. They tell us we are human. If you go through the pain, if you work through your disappointments and pains and fears, you will come out on the other side one step higher than you were before. One step closer to the realization of True Self.
We all have things holding us back. Every last one of us. No matter how we appear to others or how we present ourselves. We all have insecurities and limiting beliefs and unhealthy views of ourselves that hold us back. But it’s time for you to let those go. It’s time for freedom from your past.
What we’ve known and experienced in the past acts as a basis of what we believe is possible in our now and in our future. It sets the stage for the future self image we project on our lives. But the past does not define us. Never did and never will. Our history is just a story. In our minds. A distant memory. A mental image of what was but no longer “is” and that is distorted and disfigured through our own perceptions.
The only way we we can truly change the future of our lives is in our “now”. You must live in the moment in your life if you want the story of your future to change. This is the only way. Your power is in the present moment and the present moment alone. You are powerless to what will happen and what has been, but you can decide what you will do TODAY to create the future of you have always wanted.
The future is limitless. If you can dream it you can live it. How were all great inventions created? Before any physical manifestation had occurred it first needed to begin as a seed in the mind. Take the time to plant your seeds. Water them, attend to them, let them grow. “Do not despise these small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line.” Zechariah 4:10. The Lord is glad that you have begun. That you have planted that seed. Because that is the first step and the most important step and the only way anything can ever come to be in this world. If you ask, you shall receive. So just begin.
I dare you to dream. To imagine your life not as everything it was or is or should be, or what you think it should be, or what the most logical option is according to your parents or the internet or what some personality quiz told you would be your calling, but what lights up your heart.
Relax and allow yourself imagine. Let the thoughts flow. Lay down and smile and see what comes to your mind. What would be the ideal moment for you right now? Where would you be? Who would be with you? How would you feel? Describe this experimence in every detail. No holds barred. No guilt. No shame. No judgement. No limits, only imagining yourself in a state of pure bliss and ecstasy and imagining what that is for you, in this moment. Don’t limit yourself to what you think you can or can’t have or do or be or experience. This is your oasis. Your utopia. Your dream. This is....your heaven on Earth. God wants to see you find your own personal heaven in this physical world. He wants to see you succeed. He wants to see you living in the light. And I want you to reveal that light for yourself, whatever that ends up meaning for you.
But it’s not easy. It requires commitment. It requires determination. It requires work. But when you come out on the other side, when you experience what it feels like to truly be alive...You will want nothing more than to share the same bliss with other people. It is a satisfaction greater than anything in this physical world could possibly give you. It is a true connection to your Source. To your True Self.
It will involve introspection. It will involve uncovering all those things that are holding you back. It requires making the conscious effort to take the calculated steps every day to progress. And it’s not easy. There are people who will bring you down and situations that will test your faith and circumstances that leave you feeling unwound. But the biggest enemy, I promise you, is the demon between your own two ears. The thoughts and beliefs in your own mind.
But I also promise you this very thing: that the secret will discovered in the struggle.
Keep working. Keep trusting. Keep loving. Keep growing. Keep pushing. Keep crying, screaming, falling to the ground. Because you will pick yourself up again, lightly bruised but tougher than ever. Resilient. Strong. Beautiful. Honest. Pure. Capable. Real.
And never give up on finding what makes your life feel too good to be true. It is possible. And were born with the God-given right to experience this. Because it is possible. I have experienced it myself.
And it may come in bits and spurts or even during fleeting moments of pure joy, but once you feel it you will know. And you will make it your mission to do everything you can to chase that feeling; that is really just a state of being. Of truly being. And the more you learn about yourself, the longer you climb on this journey, and the more you go through, the easier it will be to return to this safe haven of peace and light, your heaven on Earth.
